Jumpy EP3 and idle problems

Ah sorry Scottish, been very busy to provide an update :( apologies.

Did a little top up, only half a litre was needed! (not bad after 4000 miles since oil change and hitting 100k! :))

Car has been running nice and smooth, a wee juddery every now and then - again only when cold. Will look at changing the map sensor next week as it's payday! Will have to pay for my holiday and new set of tyres this week so gonna be tight...

It's odd, sometimes when it plays up if you keep the revs steady foot still, then power just appears out of nowhere! It's like it drives itself for about 2 seconds... this is when cold at 2k rpm then revs itself up to 3. Very odd!

On top of that, last night my EML came on AGAIN! Gonna plug in the old diagnostic tool to see what's up. If it's the "fuel system too rich - bank ?", I'm gonna go mental. The performance of the car hasn't changed at all since it came on, just something being a dick. Can't afford to keep throwing money at this car :(

Modern cars and their ****ing sensors! :(

Bet you wish you never asked Scottish! ;)

Lol it's cool. I had this issue. Just glad my experience can assist other EP3 owner's. Since my sensors were done a different car. Back on SUL too. Car does feel smoother and better throttle response.
Seriously thinking about a KPro4 now.
Glad your almost sorted out the issue and I bet it is a system to rich at bank 1 code lol :) Least you know it will be sensor.
That was the code I always got.

I've got this problem too, splutters when changing gear and very jumpy in traffic worse when engine is hot. Ive had valve clearances done still the same above 3000rpm it's fine just low down. Struggles to set off when rolling in traffic in second gear ? It lacks power low down but pulls really well above 3000rpm and sometimes cuts out

Hi Deano,

Not sure if that could be a sensor issue or ICV. But ICV would only effect when the car was idle. I am still learning about the EP3 at the moment :) Do you have the EML on at the moment? What is your cars millage?
Loxy, might have a suggestion to what the issue could be.

Could be a lot of things but I'd be checking for a slack throttle cable, wayward throttle position sensor or an O2 sensor on it's way out from what you've described.

I have actually just tightened up the throttle cable its go not adjustment left now though but it's more responsive now. Just one problem of revs drop to 500rpm sometimes when coming to a junction with clutch in

That sounds like icv to me deano, I had the same issue in the end the car actually stalled out once or twice. When you removed the TB did you strip out the icv valve underneath and clean that out? That solved my issue and revs are now steady at 900rpm when coasting.

Does anybody know a Honda specialist (or even someone local who knows what they're doing with equipment etc) in or near Coventry/Rugby area? I'm quite close to giving up with this car, which is a real shame because I loved it at first, but am tired of throwing money that I dont have at it. Think I'll need a compression and coil packs testing.

With it at cold only low rpm, steadily accelerating the powers virtually not there then it just suddenly comes alive. I cleaned all the earth points, phoned a specialist in Oxford (HondR I believe) he said change the earth point on the intake manifold to the centre nut on the cam cover, if that doesn't work it could be TPS...

I did the earth point and the car has never ran so beautifully!!!!! Then later on that evening the EML came on and started juddering like sh!t again. Plugged in the diagnostic tool saying P0132 o2 sensor circuit high voltage bank 1 sensor 1 (this is pre-cat sensor I think) then next morning the light goes out yet the car continues to run like ass.

I've ordered the new sensor (NGK, as it turns out the one I bought before was a cheapy one mis-advertised as NGK) praying that this will cure the problem.
