K&n induction

I was thinking of buying the k&n typhoon kit for my 05 ep3
just wondering what people were thinking of these?
And what sort of gains do you see?

K&N make good filters but not great intakes.

The Typhoon's filter sits right next to the exhaust manifold, so they suffer from heat soak when you are in slow moving traffic or pull up to a stop.

They make a cracking noise though, it has to be said.

would a heat shield not get rid of the heat soak?

It'll help, but won't eliminate it completely. It will be fine on the move, but you'll notice it when you're in traffic for example.

When mapped with hondata k100 / kpro etc then yes
Negligible without map

I would look into a teg M intake there the best sounding in my opinion and look cool too
