knock sensor fault

hi all ** give you the run down on my problem,

brought a civic type r the other day

after having it a few days the engine check light came on the dash me being me I took it home and left it.

today we plugged a snapp on solus pro in and it came up with a code reading of P0325 knock sensor 1 circuit bank 1

we reset the code and the light went out I drive it down the road and it came back on after 5 mins of driving

someone please shed some light on this is is a sensor or is a terminal

any help id be very greatfull

dave

A quick google confirms its the knock sensor. If resetting the ECU won't solve it (ie unplug the battery for an hour, keeping radio codes etc to hand), then a new sensor may be required.

thank you for taking the time to look that up

is there anyway of pinpointing it is the sensor or is the pinking and actualy knocking as iv seen this has been a problem in the past to someone on here :/

regards dave

The only real way is to listen to it with some det cans.

If you're unsure take it to someone who knows.

Is it standard or modded?

it has pipercross filters and an exeedy paddle clutch, apart from that standard buddy.

think it may have to go to a specialist I think :( hope its not serious!!!

cheers guys

Knock wouldn't be caused by just those mods, so it's either a faulty knock sensor or it's something more serious.

Service history up to date? Valve clearances done on schedule (every 25k)?

That code means a screwed sensor or a wiring fault.

The sensor is below the inlet manifold on the front of the engine and is round and green with a plug on it's body. It simply screws out.

servise is all up to date had a new engine last year woth 53,000 miles on it not sure about ny valve clearances *** :/ would they triger it? also iv order a sensor at a cost of £90 fro honda do if there is a god up there this will sort it thanks for your advise guys very helpfull!!

If the valve clearances are way out they can cause mis fires and all sorts of shenanigans.

Stoney knows his codes, so hopefully the new sensor will cure it.

Right i shall get my valve clearances checked this weekend and when the new sensor comes ** fit it and touch wood it will be sweet again

thanks so much for your help and advise i will keep you informed

Quick update......

once the light is turned off it will stay off and drive fine

once you hit vtec the light comes on still drives fine and hits vtec but the management light is on ???

anyone had this??

What is the code? is the same knock code?

Usually when a MIL is illuminated at Vtec point but it still engages it is a timing issue. Check the code and post it up.

p0325 knock sensor 1 cercuit-bank 1

thats what the snapon solus came up when we read the car and this pops up everytime.

hope this helps stoneyni

im not even useing it atm. sorting out my cracked manifold. it has a 4-2-1 stainless turns out youve got to drop the rear subframe!!!

right pig of a job!
