Also how many wires are there supposed to be from battery earth terminal?

That's just heat, it's the other end you need to be worried about.

There should be one earth strap from the negative to the car body.

Ah well, maybe they aren't broke :( I've ordered a new set anyway, which won't hurt, also ordered an earthing kit, mine seems to earthed at 2 points, both of which look corroded. Fixed a split which was lightly taped over in the intake hose too, also induction kit seems to be a cheap Ebay jobby and is dirty so ordered a Quickshift one I think it's called? Gonna run some injector cleaner through her today too :)
