Loud ticking noise whining noise and rattling help please

Hello

I have had my EP3 now for 3 months and three things are starting to annoy me. Its done around 62000 miles and there is a constant ticking noise which I think it the valves

Should I have the clearances done now as Iv been reading they should be done at 75000?

also the engine makes a whining noise which i think is from the pulleys on the drivers side, do these just need tightening or seeing to? it also squeaks like its slipping when its been raining.

and the third is a very odd rattling noise I think it could be a heat shield but it happens through out the lower rev range between 1500 and 4000, it isnt constant and can be stopped if i quickly dip the clutch or just put my foot down for a second.


any advice would be greatly appreciated.

to my knowledge the valves clearences are every 25,000. Says in the serving sheet.

The last problem is probally the DOHC VTEC cover in the engine bay or the driveshaft heatsheild. Removed then and rattle should disappear.
 
As above, I've had the rattling noise on 3-4k RPM, I took the driveshaft heatshiled. It went away.
 
I've also got a loud whining almost sounds like it supercharged . I think I'm going to ring grin speed on Monday and see what he can do

Yeah it sound like a supercharger whine. I had a listen to it and it's coming from the pulleys. I'll have them looked at and let you know.
 
Yea mine is constant, its bad on the motorway I almost wana jump out the car it bugs me that much haha
 
Mine isn't that loud at the mo. it's just there. Bugs me massively.

Does any one know any Honda specialist in south Yorkshire or Nottinghamshire?
 
I had my valve clearances checked they should be done
every 25.000 miles its much better now the clicking is from the injectors aswell
as for the whining my one does that as well all ep3s ive listened to seem to
make this noise but it is very anoying
 
Yeah it's really annoying me. My mate as a fn2 and it doesn't whine. Thought it was a fault on mine. It's booked in tomorrow for full service and valve clearances.

I've been told of my mate who is a BMW technician that it's the top idle pulley , so I have ordered 1 for tomorrow. I will let you all know how I get on and off this solves the problem
 
The pulley was £38 from Honda but the fitting was free. My mate at BMW did it for me. It looked like a easy job though it was job done in about 10 min.i have reconditioned the old pulley and put it on eBay :)
 
So was it the bearing in the pully that had gone? I'm having my fan belt changed next month as its slipping so might have this done at these same time.

At the mo the car squeaks and whines. Sounds stupid. :)

Also had the service turned out the ticking noise is the injectors as the valves didn't need doing thanks Dave125 for the advice.
