Been taking my 17 year old out in the FK8 quite a bit as he's waiting for his test and noticed that metallic L plates won't stick to the bonnet or boot.

They work on the roof and sides, so what is the difference. Are these sections not made of metal?

They are metal but made of aluminium.

It's actually my son. He was supposed to get his test in March but it got cancelled on the day just when Covid kicked in. His next one isn't until November so he's been driving the FK8 at weekends and he absolutely loves it. He's a brilliant driver so we have no issues at all. It's less than £7 for the days insurance which is the same for our Seat Mii so it's a no brainer to take the Civic.

When I was 17 I was learning to drive in a 1990 MK3 Fiesta popular with 45bhp and a 4 speed manual :lol:

Certainly beats the f reg 1.6 escort I cut my teeth on
 
First car I ever had lessons in was an STI found it much easier to drive than the second which was an instructor's fiat punto. I'm still here to tell the tale. Was always accompanied so no issues.

My learner car was a Maestro and was truly horrible. Swapped instruuctor and the new one had a Sunny 1.4 and it was so much better to drive.
 
I learnt to drive in my own Mercury Grey 1987 Ford Fiesta XR2 :p

Rejetted the Twin Choke Weber carb & fitted a bolt-on stainless K&N filter assembly :cool:

Thought I was the man with my 1.6 CVH churning out a massive 95bhp :lol:

Back in '99 when I was 17, my mum worked for an insurance broker and I'd seen an '87 XR2 for £650. I asked her to do me a quote for it....... £11700 TPFT :lol::lol::lol::lol:

haha awesome! i did something similar to mine back in the day! 8)
replaced the valves / tappets and re-skimmed the head then swapped the vacum carb for twin webber manual that was re-jetted & larger, and also fitted the stainless K&N. :D
