whats the difference? i knew the previous owner used mobil1 but when i looked at the bottle its 0w-30! so didnt bother buying any of the mobil1 halfords had which was 0w-40!!
 
The Honda dealer I use always puts in 0w -30, I just use the Mobil 1 0w - 40 for topups and its fine.
 
I used to run mine on 0w40, but after a service 5w40 was put in, the car seems alot smoother and less jumpy when first started up.
 
Does it matter which brand of oil you go for? I've got a pre-facelift CTR and am looking to change the oil in the next month. Are there any powerbuys for oil?

Out of those, the best ones are the Silkolene Pro S, Millers CFS, Motul 300V, Redline and Gulf Competition. The Motul 8100 X-Cess, Gulf Formula G, Fuchs Supersyn and Mobil Synt S are good, cheaper alternatives.

Thanks.

I don't thrash my car (little blip every now and then as you do) and don't do track days, however my car is used for short journeys only throughout the week (circa 2.5 miles each way). Are there specific oils that better protect the engine for short runs?
 
Thanks, just ordered 5L of the Silk Pro-S, 1L of the Silk Pro-S and some Amsoil synthetic MTF!
