Hi I'm sort of new only been on here a couple of months, I'm from braintree Essex.
Started modding my civic it's going to be slow as I'm saving for a wedding at the moment.
When I first got her.

Bought some uprated parts for a service

Then bought a scorpion Decat pipe

Then ordered a brand new hks cat back system

Hoping to fit loads of carbon goodies, uprate the engine a bit more and maybe euro and give it a bit of stance.

Looking good with some nice progress, is your car mapped with you running a de cat?
 
The K20 is a very highly-strung engine. The engine management does not have the range of adjustment required to compensate for running decat. The engine will run lean, this will lead to higher temperatures and knocking. This will inextricably lead to searching for replacement engines on ebay.

Yes. You can go as far as intake and cat-back exhaust mods, but intake/exhaust manifold and decat will require ecu and mapping.

Don't risk it. You won't get any gains by running without a cat anyway, not on a K20.

I bow, as always, to the unimpeachable wisdom of Loxy. Thanks mate, that's what I meant.

There's gains to be had by remapping WITH a cat and staying legal. In my opinion it's not worth the trouble if you get caught without a cat.

I'm not getting it remapped with the cat on, I want to uprate the intake manifold and exhaust manifold first then I'll go for a map

We'll never condone illegal mods on here (public forum and whatnot) but for a track car; yes there are good gains to be made that way. However, you should remap the car immediately after fitting these parts to avoid potential damage.

I've had almost a Decat on every single car ive had over the years and I've never been done or been pulled for it and with the hks exhaust on now it's really quiet and not loud but it's coming off Saturday and when I do get the bits I want it's getting mapped

It's the fact if you have a bad crash they inspect the car and see no cat, = bad times vosa also do random checks

If your getting the car mapped you may as well keep the de cat if you wanted

Well I'm thinking of banging a turbo on next year and the kit comes with downpipe etc so might as well wait really
