Those of us with a good memory remember NOSMAN in his prime.

Got an JDM EP3 LSD in my UKDM CTR and it's working very well :):D

hey mate can you tell me whats involved in fitting an LSD into a UK EP3 please?

Like:
What parts are needed

amount of labour involved

costs

I'd appreciate some info on this as I feel that fitting an LSD would be one of those Holy Grail mods that i NEED to do!:D

cheers

well i bought a dc5 and personally didn't like the handling charecteristics (giant can of worms) very tail happy & yes i do understand the concept of lift off oversteer,

also the price difference is not justified condsidering the small amount of power increase

for example 55 plate ep3 premier roughly around 9k, very nice seats, you know the complete history of the car, where as you would probably get a 2001 dc5 that you dont know much about.....

ek9 handles better than both imo

dc5 looks the best

ep3 is the best all rounder i.e cost/practicality/ability to mod (k series ftw)

although 99% will probably disagree but i just thought i would share some information as i've now owned three type r's.

oh & i'm on the hunt for an ep3 again :)

Or you just buy a 2001 DC5 with full service history and receipts like I did?

Hydraulic steering + LSD + More power + less weight = winner every time.

I got a dc5 lsd for £200, it required 2 new diff bearings £57.50, Gasket Seal £11.50, 2ltrs Honda Gearbox Oil £17.25 and fitting was £362.25.

Total cost - £648.50.

If your gonna do this you will probably be best replacing the clutch and potentially the fly which is gonna bump the cost up £400 ish

very true jermal, all that japenese service history that we can all read :p, this is of course just my opinion. no matter how 'mint' we all think imports are, we just don't know all that much about them.

yes i am aware we take the same risk with a uk car,

steering feel was much more 'involved' as well as the whole driving experience in the dc5 however i just didn't like it. i just love the handling on the ep3, lift off oversteer was so much more controlable, altough it does need lsd!!

please don't take offence dc5 drivers, its still a very good car, that i can forgive for being so damn sexy;)

I'm not for one moment saying it was easy, but I was able to decipher using the handy crazy Japanese diagrams exactly what my car had done for each service. Car was imported standard and I have all the receipts from the previous UK owner who was on the ITR forum, so I was able to research the history furthermore before hand.

At the end of the day, buying a second hand car always has an element of risk in it. As for imports, it also helps to buy one that has been sourced from a reputable importer.
