My DC2 - Type R number 5

I've just noticed that the whole rear arch is dented, fkcuing w@nkers.

I was searching through some old pics and saw this:

That was took by me at the Wilton House car show last year, a good 15 months before I bought it and I never realised.

I'm calling TGM tomorrow to book it in for the following:

Oil service and and inspection. It's not long been serviced, but I have noticed that the oil is quite dirty so quick oil + filter change, also, there's a noise coming from the back at low revs that I want them to have a look at and I can finally have the broken rear engine mount replaced. I'm also having the arches repaired.

Right, I used to complain about how silly long the gearing was in the ATR, so I got a passenger to video the clocks in the DC2 rolling from 40mph on a local runway in 3rd, if you all remember, I did the same in the ATR.

Here is the ATR:

And here is the DC2 (ignore the temp gauge, it always shows that low, getting fixed soon):

I am not sure if you can see what I'm trying to show, but for everyday power usability, the DC2 is so much better and it's one of the main reasons I wasn't very fond of the ATR. The B18 is also more relentless than the H22 and seems to rev smoother and more freely.

Maybe a video editing boffin can merge the two together for a better comparison? I have the originals here if you need.

That is a very clear difference. Nice work on the edit Shaenei!

y0 Dooks.

Just remembered to have a look, and my passenger air vent is no faux carbon either - only driver side. Must be some weirdo Honda decision.

Yeah according to the nerds on the DC2 forum they're all like it. Bizarre.

Very interesting video - I have driven my mates DC2 a couple of times and its definitely more "urgent" through the revs - but side by side from a 30mph roll-on (for example) is the DC2 actually faster? Just curious - perhaps we should pop down to the local runway and give it a go.

IMO Accords do differ massively car to car - some appear much quicker than others.

DC2 is quicker on paper in a sprint but real world.......dunno.

At least you retain working balls in an ATR.

The gearing on the ATR is the big let down for me, plus it doesn't rev as fast either. I think in everyday situations, such as pulling onto a motorway, overtaking or blatting out of a corner, the DC2 is faster, because 3rd gear is more usable. Going into 2nd all the time is all well and good, but in the wet, or on a bumpy road, 3rd makes much more sense which is where the DC2 excels. It's all about usable power in everyday situations. The trade off, as Graham rightly says, is comfort (or lack of in the DC2)!

Agreed on that - a few times I have dropped to 2nd at about 35-40mph to get it going which just feels wrong - now if it had a dog leg first gear... lol
