Evening!

Had this just under a week and WOW!! I didnt realise what all the fuss about VTEC was about, but i sure do now.... now i've recovered from the shock of the insurance premium it is definately worth it. So far totally standard and to be honest probably will be for some time, altho a decent air intake would be tempting for a little more throaty grunt haha... Love it!!! :D oh and a decent sound system to plug my iphone into.. if any can recommend any??

Age - 24..Insurance... £1150!!
34k ..on 04 plate..very tidy :D

Take a peek... thanks

Welcome, check with your insurance company before changing anything some are funny about under 25's modding an ep3 and you wouldn't want to get a mod to have to take it off because your insurance company says no

Welcome to the forum.

I added one mod to my insurance and it bumped up the price by £100 so ring first to see how much extra they want to bang on.

Welcome to the forum.

Don't mean to píss on your chips, but your insurance seems a little high. Who is it with? Have a look in the insurance section for companies that specialise in performance car insurance for next years quote ;).

Thanks all..

Insurance is with elephant.co.uk.. they wanted an extra £500 if i was to pay monthly!! ouch!

I did shop around a bit and they were cheapest, unfortunately :( but i will look at the insurance section for next year, thanks.

Hopefully after a years experience of driving a Type R it should shoot down..and i'll have 7 years no claims next year and turn 25.. :)

I've just paid £1104, I'm 23 with 3 years no claims. With Admiral.

I also shopped around and tried a few specialist companies, Sky didn't quote me. Greenlight said they no longer insure the CTR for people under 25. and Adrian flux wanted £3150!!

Can only assume that as CTR prices go down, more younger drivers buy them and the insurance premiums for the model go up!

Nice car mate, looks very tidy!

Just to put things into context. I'm recently turned 26, have 6 years protected NCB drive a DC5 which unfortunately is group 20 for insurance and I'm paying £530.

I would suggest speaking to some of the specialist brokers and play them off against each other.

Thanks, it is in nice condition for its age.. could do to give the seats a good scrub with something if anyone can recommend a good product that wont damage the seats?

Maybe its the area i live in then thats putting my insurance a little high as Elephants the same company as Admiral.. Hull isnt the most exotic place to live in England..

I do feel a little ripped off when i look at 'Jermal' s post though.. who did you try insurance through please buddy so i know who to try next time.. thanks

Sorry bud but Admiral are not a mod friendly insurance company, when i was with them the only mod they would insure was my aftermarket tints. everything else was a no, including non power related mods.

Admiral, Diamond and Elephant are all the same company/run by same people. Elephant were more than happy to insure me on my RS1800 (group 15/16) at 18 years old with an accident, alloys, exhaust, lowered and air filter.
As Captain said it must be post code related.

The first year I had my CTR I was 24 and I paid just under £1000 with 5 years no claims. When I turned 25 it dropped right down to £420 with Direct Line (fully Comp). It did cost me an extra £80 to add on my exhaust.

Just out of interest is the back of the car tinted? It looks like in one of the pictures it has a slight mirror/chrome effect going on. As for your sound system I've got a good set of 6" x 9"
speakers cut in to the parcel shelf. No one can see them due to the tints on my car.

Tidy looking car by the way.

My first task is to fit the new grill Type R badge ive ordered, i didnt realise unitl i'd got the car home that it was missing :( ... Oh and some LED white sidelights to match the Xenon lights, are they easy to fit? does the headlight need to come partially out?

Thanks..

Did you inform your elephant about the tints?

To fit the sidelights you need to release the wheel arch and stick your arm inside
