My first EP3 figured it's time to start a build thread

Today decided to give the engine bay a little tlc and refurb my tegiwa carbon scoop as it was sold to me in a right state (funny the advert didn't mention that!).
Anyway so some before and afters of the scoop:

My technique with the lacquer could use a bit of work but a vast improvement I think.

Haven't got a before unfortunately, it was a right state kind of wish I'd taken a pic, but a few of the engine bay after a little love:

........and we are back to brakes!! The rear ns starting sticking again so bit the bullet this time and bought a rebuild kit as I'm sick of freeing it off. Let me tell you the rears are no where near as easy as the fronts! What a pain and I've still got the os to tomorrow.

Anyway on a better note I picked up a bargain last week and got it this morning

My mugen rep splitter so I've sanded it down with 800grit and prepped it, etch primed it, 2 coats of primer and it's now drying for 24hrs, after a quick rub with 2000grit it will be ready to paint. Depending on how the caliper goes I may paint it tomorrow.

Finally managed to get around to painting and lacquering.

Now just to let the lacquer dry this week, polish and hopefully fit next weekend. It's not perfect but not bad for my first attempt at painting IMO.

Your cars coming along nicely, especially now the brakes are sorted?
Great write up by the way.:)
Keep the updates coming.

Thanks, a lot
Brakes are working a treat but I'm actively putting off fitting the new piston and dust seal to the OS rear, the NS was a pig of a job and the OS hasn't started sticking......yet!! I'm gonna need therapy the amount of brake related issues I've had! Everytime I see my caliper rewind tool I get a twitch in my eye that doesn't go for days! Haha

And the splitter is fitted

A vast improvement if you ask me, but now i want to repaint the bumper as the splitter shows it up it NEVER ENDS

Due to having to bail my mother out financially all plans have been on hold for the car of late so not much to update, also the mods I had been planned for japfest 2 haven't been done .....
Been doing little things, replaced the missing 'E' from the badge on the grill, got a vinyl insert for the badge on the rear and also added some Stickers (no photos yet). Also polished out the massive scuffs on the climairs the last owner left removing the climair sticker (some people!).
Next up will be getting the headlights refurbed and sections inside painted black, will now be keeping the pre-facelift lights as I've seen photos of this done, it looks dam good!
.....on holiday next week and get back a day before japfest2, gonna be a busy day with the polish!

Think you may have the wrong person mate as I don't know a Laura and my dad died about 23 years ago.....so I'd say he's not doing great

Nice build mate. Some good work there. Did you have a go at fitting cam chain and tensioner yourself?

No I didn't want to risk messing it up. Truth be told the chain, vtc gear and tensioner is still in my garage. I need to get around to getting it booked into Honda and get it done. But I always seem to find something else to spend money on haha

So the latest thing I've managed to pick up to procrastinate the vtc/cam chain is this:

Skunk2 rear camber kit, I managed to get it so cheap I had to mail photos to skunk themselves to confirm its the genuine article

And I'm happy to say they are, with all the fake crap floating around figured it's better to be safe than sorry.

Absolute bargain at £55 delivered

Also I've fitted a new heat shield to my catalytic converter as mine decided to part ways with its self.

FRSU looks to be next on the list then I guess

So, after months of putting it off and getting the financial nod from the wife (couldn't hide this one haha) the car has gone in today for some work:
FINALLY the chain, tensioner and vtc gear are going on the car, I can't take anymore cold start rattle! Also having a energy suspension polybush master kit fitted, skunk2 camber arms and eibach bolts I've acquired then its in for the FRSU to be done Sunday.
Was a bit rushed so sorry to say no photos of the bushes or bolts before they go on, also a little disappointed I'm having all this done by the steelers rather than doing it myself, however something tells me that it would be a bitch of a job so I'm not sorry lol.
Looking forward to getting the car back and testing the FRSU

Well my **** poor luck continues, it's been a bad car day!
Got a message from the garage that the guides were absolutely ****ed. The guides being the only bits I didn't buy on the advice of several people and a Honda mechanic no less, who said its highly unlikely the guides will need replacing and that all the guides he'd taken out had been fine so not to bother.
Let me tell you, they were not "fine"!!

One completely missing!!!!
The chain had also stretched and had about an inch of stretch on it, neither me nor the garage have any idea how it's not skipped a tooth or just all out missed and ****ed the engine! I guess I'm very lucky in that respect!!
So new guides now turning up tomorrow from Honda.
However due to the added time it will be there and Hondas *cough* competitive parts pricing my bill has now doubled!
Due to this only the rear is gonna be getting polybushed now as they don't accept shiny pebbles (I asked).

Ok so guides, chain, tensioner and vtc cam gear all fitted took the car for a gentle drive for 30mins to check all was ok and couldn't resist trying vtec just before getting home......I can not tell you the difference it's made! Being the only ep3 I've driven (other than a few rotters I saw when buying one) I guess I just didn't realise that vtec wasn't working quite right because my god does it shift in vtec now!! Should have bit the bullet long ago and can't believe I left it this long to get it all fitted. Lesson learnt! Will be changing the waterpump and top idler pulley for peace of mind in the near future as that was a close enough call. I don't want any surprises any time soon!
