New Brake Pads & Discs

Messages

Hi all,

Had a Honda service on my FN2 last week and the are recommending I replace the front pads and discs.

They quoted 289 but my local garage quoted 179 (just took it there after to see).

My question: Will Honda use better quality parts than a local garage and should I pay the extra?

Thanks

Honda use the same parts that they came out of the factory with, so you take some sort of solace in that.

A local garage will more than like use Euro car parts or similar. To be honest, ask them what parts they will be fitting.

I've used Pagid discs in the past, which come from ECP and not had a problem with them. I would be tempted to steer clear of their pads though. You can get genuine Honda pads from Cox and Hendy for a lot less:

Saying that, OEM discs are similarly priced to Pagid ones:

There are a good selection of traders such as Hendy, Eightspeed, TDi-North, Tegiwa, Grinspeed, Sumo, TGM etc. who can supply uprated pads and discs and a few can fit them too, depending where you are of course!
