Hi all,

Purchased my CTR a few weeks ago after having owned a few other hatches including a couple of 182s, VRS, C2 VTS, Saxo etc! Anyhow I've always had a soft spot for the Type R so thought why not!

Bought the car standard (bar custom exhaust) with just over 60k on the clock.

First thing I did was get the Bosch Aerotwin wipers!

The brake callipers were in a slightly worn state so the next job was to sort them out. I was originally going to stick to a standard theme however i decided to go black callipers with silver and red text and was very pleased with the result:

Hoping to refurb the wheels this coming weekend and will post up a few other updates over the next few days!

All comments and criticism welcome!

As always comments welcome!

Looks Brilliant, What bulbs did you do for, and were the sidelights a pain to do as I've heard its a wheel arch job.

As mentioned above ^^ could you let me know if the side lights were easy to install as I'm thinking bout doing them and also what bulb sizes go in the interior lights thanks haz.

Thanks guys, main bulbs are actually 5000K HIDs (hids4u and adaptors), I know a lot of people are against it but the beem is spot on. As for the sidelights they are a little awkward but easy. I removed a few of the arch liner clips, pulled it back and was able to get my hand up to it easy enough. Just put you steering on full lock to give you some room and the bulb itself just needs to be turned and pulled out!

The interior light bulbs are festoon 269 31mm IIRC, quite hard to come by when I was looking but managed to find them on ebay in the end!

Well got a small delivery today with a few cleaning bits!

Still got a fair bit to get before I make a proper start on the car but thought id start with some of the basics!

Made a start on my wheel refurb today, got a chunk of the prep done but looks like my bank holiday weekend is gone! Progress so far:

Wheels off:

Before, this is probably the worst wheel for lacquer peel:

After:

Wheels after 80 grit all over and then a rub down with scotch pads:

First injury of no doubt many!

Filing down after applying some metal filler to get the worst of the curbing out:

Fair play, Will be sending my wheels up next :D , very impressed with auto finesse Products. Used the triple yesterday and its brilliant

Haha I remember doing them on my Fabia VRS and afterwards saying never again, 4 years on 'I'm not bloody doing this again'!

I haven't actually used the Triple, always used good old ag super resin polish before but I have heard good things from everyone whos used it so I thought why not!

Progress update, prep has been finished and currently have the first couple of coats of etch primer. Unfortunately one of the wheels needs a bit more sanding down which is a pain but all part of the fun :/

good job mate. I did mine last year and it was an absolute nightmare. its all worth it when you fit them and take a step back and look at the finished product. pat on the back time lol.

So this weekend has been pretty non stop doing these and still didnt quite get the level of finish I would have liked but i'm still so pleased with the results!

First coat of paint:

Didn't get any more photos until finished and fitted however I put about 5 coats of paint and another 4-5 of matt lacquer.

And her she is:

they do look good mate, Not overly keen on the colour but you've certainly put some work in fair play
