Octane rating

I might be really stupid asking this but do any of you genuinely notice any benefit from running a higher octane on a civic type r? A few mates of mine have scoobys and evos running big power and do but the civic doesnt benefit imo. Even on the fuel cap it stated min ron 95 and it runs perfect. Why the high ron?

Nope, I think it would be a placebo effect. Higher octanes would allow for more agressive ignition, but on a standard K20, you shouldn't care.

From what Ive read...
Standard UKDM - you might aswel run on 95ron.
Standard JDM - run on high octane due to it being mapped for 100ron Jap fuel.
Modified - run on what ever you have your car mapped to run on.
