Out with the old, in with the Cosmic!

Organised a meet with the local EP3 owners Sunday just gone and was quite a good turnout!

And my favourite spec list would be too long to list!

Not a bad turn out, 7 EP3s, 1 EP2 and 2 EGs..

Following the meet I ordered some engine mount inserts, I think the plan for me now is to get mine on track for next year, so from here on I'll be going for handling mods first then power!

Plans are:

Fit engine mount inserts
JDM rear arb
Roll my arches
Replace these horrible stretched 205s with 225s

Little go pro footage from the cruise up to the meet too

Car is looking good, I've recently got myself the same wheels in grey, the previous owner also fitted stretched tyres to them :(

So, mount inserts arrived this week.. Will be fitting saturday, looking forward to driving it after and feeling the difference!

I didn't really notice the gearbox one if im honest but the engine mounts make a massive difference is so many ways!
You can fit them without dropping the subframe too, its just a little tight

I've got a set of mount inserts to try out thanks to Jizzy. Is it a fairly easy and quick job to do both mounts

How do you find the increased vibration noise Jimbo? Was looking at an ETD but think I'll go with the inserts, better value.

Its not too bad, its more the feel when setting off from a standstill, but they soon settle down a little.

You also get used to it, not once had any wheel hop since fitting and it was so easy for the wheels to hop before especially in the wet.

So got all the inserts fitted today!

Front (managed to do without dropping subframe)

And gearbox..

It's vibratey now but in a good way, can feel everything and it's made such a difference, to handling and everything! Such a cheap mod that makes a massive difference

How hard would you say this would be for a total novice? Although I have a friend who would assist and he fixes planes so I will be well supervised....maybe

The rear one and gearbox wasn't so bad, but front was quite fiddly because we didn't drop the subframe, if you're confident with dropping the subframe i can't really see it being hard at all! I just didn't want to have to do the geometry again etc

Ordered two parts this week, one a de-wiper kit and also a 28mm rear arb from Tegiwa.

Chose the largest arb as recommended by a friend who has one fitted to his!

Can't wait to get it on and give it a test drive.

De wiper'd

I've got one of these waiting to go on mine, should be interesting, kinda disappointed with the kit it comes with. Real cheap looking but is tegiwa so to be expected.

I actually stumbled upon your thread yesterday when I was looking for other people with 28mm, looks like it's just us two haha!

Oh you think? Looking forward to fitting it though.. Heard it makes a massive difference!

Removed my manifold heat shield today as the bottom part had rusted away so was just flapping around..

Removed the shield off the bonnet too, just need to clean it up! My one was covered in grease from the previous owner spraying the aux belt so it wasn't as loud when I came to buy it

Really need to clean up the engine bay

Also before winter I plan on removing the rear inner arches, and Undersealing the whole underside of the car.. Got most of the products ready

Fitting the rear arb Saturday so more updates then!

Busy day today.

Went to a friends so he could fit my Tegiwa 28mm rear arb, so happy with it! Makes the backend feel really responsive and gets rid of that boat like feeling, also feels like there's no more understeer!

New vs. Old! (9mm difference)

On the car, can see some horrible surface rust which is why I'll be treating and Undersealing the underneath!

And back on the floor.

Went and met my mate with his Z afterwards and got a couple of pics..

And then got an interior video with the GoPro on the way home.

Lastly more pic whoring. My favourite shot of my car so far from a trip to Southend last week.

Next up, I'll be getting the arches rolled/flared and purchasing some wider tyres!

Some bad luck today.. Turns out my evo lug nuts weren't genuine Mitsubishi ones so they've started cross threading.. Oem wheels back on for now

0c05a0f389cdc67d9b1d71866ebdd8d0.jpg

Then took out the rear arch liners which was hiding so much dirt and moisture, which lead to some nasty rust.. Majority was surface rust but on the drivers side while I was wire brushing it a hole appeared so that'll have to be cut out and welded.

Kurust on

b76616256706e37579da0b2e7af977ca.jpg

The start of the hole.. The rest of the metal underneath it was weak so I left it until a friend of mine can sort it out.

Firstly a coat of etched primer

Then lastly underseal

Back on the floor and Oem wheels on

Just the start of protecting the car from rust, will underseal the whole underside of the car bit by bit and change a few bits so it's nice and new looking.

Next update will be the arch sorted out and welded

Nice thread Sean, good to read up what you've done to your car (this is Tom from CTRO Beds by the way) :)

I'm looking to change my rear ARB soon, so is good to hear the Tegiwa one is good
