FK2 Paintwork/Cleaning

Messages

Has anyone noticed when cleaning their pride and joy, the rear wheel arches and tailgate are covered in brown/ black speckles. Im guessing its a mixture of road dirt and tar but has anyone found a cleaning product or method of removing them? My car is white so they stand out on a sunny day and its really annoying. Autoglym tar remover doesn't seem to do anything.

Try Autosmart Tardis
Its brilliant stuff - way way ahead of AG tar and glue remover.

Also if it looks more brown ish like little bits of rust, it will be iron deposits stuck to the car.
Brake dust etc or industrial fallout

For this you might want to try an Iron Fall Out remover.
I've been using Bilt Hamber Korrosol, very good product again, spray with the product, leave a few mins, it will bleed purple, then wipe off gently with a micro fibre.
Then wash again.
HTH

BTW, I have a white car too, and mine has NO marks on it at all ;)

i didn't think it would be iron but makes sense with it being brown, if you do the finger nail test they are particles stuck to the paint. Thats really helpful cheers mate, can you get those products from regular auto stores or is it a specialist item?

I think you can get Sonax iron out or similar from Eurocarparts now.

I tend to order online
www.cleanyourcar.co.uk

If they are sticky bits of brown, its likely tar, if they are really hard, its probably iron fall out.
£20 of product should resolve mate

yeah pretty strong smelling formula, the amount of purple running down the paintwork was shocking, you don't realise just how dirty your car is even after you have cleaned it!

noticed also the other day the amount of stone chips on the front bumper already, i know you can't really avoid it cos the roads are crap, its the only car I've had that seems to attract big stones lol

I use a product called Tar-X. It's from the same makers as Iron-X ( which you might have heard of? ) Good stuff, gets rid of all those nasty little black spots without a fuss.

Yes the Bilt Hamber stuff smells a lot more pleasant Jim!!
Battenberg cake scent

The CarPro IronX smells worst out of all of them, although it does its job
