Problem with alarm / power / car not starting

I'm a bit stuck with this one, and just wondering if anyone on here can help.
What happened was, kids dropped my car keys and alarm fob into the sink. And the water got inside the fob due to it being cracked already.
Anyhow, I opened it to dry it out.
A day or two after, I went out to the car and opened the door via the key. Put the key in the ignition and no power at all. No dash lights nothing.
Anyway, got a garage who live nearby and are related to my g/f and he said the battery was completely flat. Put it on charge, charged it up to 100% and the next morning, checked the battery and it had dropped to 85% and testing said it was knackered.
So we order a new one. That's arrived, fitted it. And the alarm went off, after a while it stopped.
Tried starting the car, but it refuses to start up, although all power / dash lights / radio etc are now working.
The key fob is still playing up and not doing much, although when I did press the lock button pretty hard, the doors did lock, but the unlock button still doesn't work.
Whenever I open the car doors using the key, the alarm goes off, and i still can't start the engine.

Can anyone help with this please?

Just an update, I've been ringing around places and they said to contact Honda. I've rang them and they said they think the key might need re-programming to the cars immobiliser?
But it'd cost around £51+vat to do that, and if it's not that that's the problem then they said they're bit sure what it is.
I can get in the car using the key, but the alarm goes off then. Also the car won't start, the dash lights up etc, but the engine won't turn over, I'm guessing it's immobilised.

Does anybody know if what Honda are saying over the phone is correct? Because I dont want to have to fork out to get the car towed there and then fork out again, to be told that it isn't that?
Completely clueless with these things.

Like you said it does sound like it's immobilised.

Can you not get someone to tow you down? The electrics still work so it'd be legal at least.

That can probably be arranged, but the thing is, the alarm keeps going off once I'm in the car.
Do you know if there is anyway to silence the alarm whilst I'm being towed?

Battery, but then you'll have taken out the electrics. The alarm is on the fob, so if you get that working you're gravy.

Someone did find the alarm sounder recently but I'm on my phone so searching is problematic.

Do you know anyone else with an EP3 close by? You could swap their ECU into yours and try their key... Then you'd know if it was just your key requiring reprogramming?

Thanks mate,

If I did remove the battery, whilst towing the car,
Would that mean the car wouldn't be able to be steered? With no power steering?
Also when I press the key lock button on the fob, it lights up, the other unlock button is unresponsive though, and it doesn't seem to do anything to the car. Any ideas if a fob can be repaired?

Good idea, but unfortunately I don't know anyone with a Type R
One of my mates has a standard 1.6 civic, same shape, but his ecu would be different wouldn't it?

Well an alarm specialist came out yesterday. He managed to get the car running, he said the key was ok and the battery was low on power.
But couldn't re-programme a new fob to deactivate the alarm.

Just to add the car battery is new, it was installed a couple of weeks ago but the car couldn't be started then.
He managed to get the car started yesterday after jump starting my car, but still no luck with the alarm. Seems I'm having a power drain as well.

Any ideas?
