Pulley sheared off

Hi guys,

major problem today on m6, strange noise then temp gauge went off the scale. Opened the bonnet to find the top pulley sheared off (photos attached) obviously causing belt to come off, anyone else had this?

not sure what would have caused it?

any thoughts be appreciated, managed to get recovered home just not looking forward to what the garage has to say in the morning!

At worst a new waterpump, no biggie. Might be able to drill it and use a stud extractor and rescue that one still.

New pulley is about £40 from Honda.
