Hi,

Took my k&N typhoon off today and put standard airbox back on. Just been for a drive and now I have no vtec. The oil level is fine and it was working fine with the typhoon on. Please help.
Thanks.

Have you put the MAF sensor back in the OEM intake pipe properly?

Any engine management lights?

Did you let the engine warm up before testing it? Vtec is disabled when the engine is cold.

Yes loxy everything is as it should be, I double checked after re-fitting and have just checked again to be sure. And yes the engine was more than warm enough, Id done 10 miles down the m62 before using the vtec on the way back

I've read that the ecu can be reset by disconnecting the battery for 10 mins so I've just done that and I,ll try it again on way to work in morning.
Ps. there's no management lights lit.

It is probably just a placebo effect mate.

Changing an airbox won't affect Vtec.

no, you don't understand, I know how the vtec should work with a standard airbox and it really is not working! I had a 2005 prem a few years ago and that one did exactly the same thing where there was no kick or pull through vtec. I had a Honda specialist fix it for me and all I can remember them saying was that the vtec had come unplugged whatever that means....?

Checked your oil level?

Edit. Read the op again.

LOL

No, you don't understand....

If it worked with the K&N, you fitted an airbox, and now it doesn't, then you have disturbed something...
I'll bet it is working though.
My DC5 felt flat as hell with an original airbox back on it after a Gruppe M and also felt/sounded like it wasn't engaging Vtec..

Haha honestly that's what they said to me! But whatever they did they fixed it. I would call them but they closed a few month back.

Oil is fine. I have owned 2 ep3,s now so I know how the cars should drive and I am telling you that there is definitely something wrong with the vtec, maybe I have disturbed something but that's what I am trying to find out.

 not surprised, probably because they kept lying to Honda drivers about the Vtec plug being left out lmao

I'm not jumping on the VTEC plug thing I'm not, but it does sound like you've not plugged something back in.

Maybe put the sensor back in the intake pipe but then not plugged the lead into it? Or you've a connector that looks joined but it has come loose.

Something is obviously not right.

Haha funny ****ers! I come on here for advice not sarcasm and I am only repeating what was suppose to a Honda specialist as said to me. One thing is for sure and it's definiately not right!

Thanks loxy but from what I can see everything is connected properly, off for a beer now anyway so will see What happens tomorrow.

Can you install the other filter to see if it works again. If it does then its probably placebo, if it doesn't then you have a problem
