RBC ?

Messages

Sorry if this is covered elswhere on this forum but the search didn't allow me to find "RBC", probably because it's too short to use in search function... Anyway,

I have some questions regarding the RBC intake.

1) Anyone knows a good place to find them? Got them as low as 200£ upto 500+£ for the very same...
What would be a fair price?

2) I found some in the USA but don't know which will be sufficient:

Full kit:
http://cgi.ebay.com/CvcSi-RBC-INTAK...QitemZ140467323963QQptZLHQ5fDefaultDomainQ5f0
>>> is the extra 70$ worth the price, do I need all of it?

RBC standalone:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/RBC-...r_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item20a81ce207
>>> Is this sufficient or do we need all the parts like in the first like?
>>> also, this one is pre-modified, the other isn't what parts exactely iare modified and why?

This is cheapest I found, so far. Note, importing from USA comes with an adittional 21% VAT for me.

3) I know a k-pro is required for it's full potential to be unlocked, but can it run without k-pro? (cel light, running like crap...?)

4) Anything else I am forgetting?

Thanks!

I believe tegiwa sell them for £250, maybe worth checking.

£250 for RBC http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180565351807

£40 for the throttle adaptor http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180565662338

RRC is FTW though

Yes, but with the US$ being like african money lately, it's cheap to buy in the USA, even with import VAT, it would be cheaper buying them in the USA istead of tegiwa, on top of that, most of those ebay shops quote their products much lower on shipping documents so customs are fooled and don't charge 21% at the full item value.

And isn't the RRC made for drive by wire? (no idle port for example) Anyone has the RRC on a EP3?

TDI have put then onto K20's. They just get the slot machined that's required

I plan on getting one on mine early next year

Thanks,

I've been googling about this RRB little further and indeed some claim 5hp gains over RBC...however info comes short... Any info on TDI's engine?

Thanks for that info mate.

However, seems the RRC could cost nearly double the price of the RBC.
Would it be wise to go with an RBC after all or is that just stupid and better going for modded RRB?
What about getting an RBC and getting some basic port' n' polish on it? I can have it done for free... So would that compensate for not going for a RRC?

I mean, where do you draw the line,... Toda manifold is car porn, still, most go for DC sports.

If I were to go with RBC, and use my custom airbox (http://type-r-owners.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?72346-Custom-prototype-induction-kit!-R-spec) that saves me around 400£ that could be invested in a TSX EX-cam, or a DC sports manifold.

And another question:
Is it straight swap on fitting the engine bay? (no cutting in panels, radiator relocation,......)

And I had an idea of filling up the 4 holes of the manifold, those where the adapter plate goes on, using some liquid 2 component metal. We've done it 1000 times before on 2stroke engine blocks to relocate holes.
Then drill 4 new holes and draw wire in them (don't know in english) so the OEM throttlebody fits on without adaptor plate, saving 50£, and with my R&D, shortening air travel by a little, which usually is better...

If there is enoug space to drill in ... have to look that one up

To end this thread more or less... Bought an RBC on ebay at 215£ including shipping and customs... Affordable horses I'd say :)

The RRB is too expensive in my opinion

got mine from ebay america it cost £210 with all needed stuff and hondata gasket then i had to pay about £20 when i picked it up from the post office, if you but the tegiwa one you still need a few things if i can remember, stevie from unit 8 said go with the one from america so i did

We do ours for £260 delivered
See this thread

We will soon have the inlet gaskets too which will make the total £280 delivered

why are people advising me against going with the RBC when i plan to supercharge my EP3?

Here is a clue..

ahh....i just read further into it

the thread saying about using a different inlet was talking about using the RSX JRSC inlet hahaha, what a total dick i am

RBC for sale!

Okay, the RBC arrived from the USA! Haven't seen it yet as I had it delivered at a friends adress but he claims it looks very nice, I'll try making some pics this weekend.

I expect it to be installed some months from now, since I'm planning to get it mapped shortley after, but there is one problem... > £££ for mapping so I'll guess I have to save for some more months :(

Unless... Someone can confirm even without mapping it won't make the car run like crap, increasing fuel consumption (without power gain), crappy idle, engine light coming on...

*** I already have a hondata gasket in case someone wonders ***
