Rubbing noise when turning hard right

Messages

I shall apologise now as this post is going to be a little vague and I couldn't get a recording of the sound earlier.
When turning hard right (i.e. At speed and pushing it) my ep3 developed a concerning noise today. Sounded almost like a tyre was rubbing on the arches, however the suspension is standard and I've checked there are no rub marks. I couldn't identify if the noise was front or rear as it seemed to echo through the car. There are no symptoms when turning at more sensible speeds or hard left, brakes are recently rebuilt and have been checked today (no stones caught or guards catching) so don't believe it's an issue with them. I do have a dc5 rear arb and uprated rear droplinks but these have been fitted a few months now and the noise only appeared today.
Any ideas would be appreciated as I'd like to fix this before it potentially worsens.

Hard to say really, does it sound like a chewy rubber sound? If so it could be a CV boot. I had this on a previous EP3, the boot had split but the noise could be heard when driving slow.

The noise only happened today, hopefully I'll be able to get a recording of it in the next couple of days. It is very odd that it's only on hard cornering. I'll give the boots a check tomorrow, anything else I should add to the list to check you can think of?

Seems it's cornering I'd check steering components and front suspension, possibly rear, and then go from there. It's hard to say exactly what it is from descriptions, it's always hard to diagnose problems without actually seeing/hearing so it's usually a case of eliminating things.

Or maybe a garage/specialist will be able to identify it straight away.

Hello mate
I have the exact same sound as you described when moving off and turning either left or right
Its most likely to be the steering rack slider

After much scratching of the head and checking of everything hub realated I found one of the splash guards had worked it's way a smidge too close to the caliper. This was causing the noise under heavy turning, easily sorted with a big flat head screwdriver and some levering

Do you have any pictures for this mate and a how to guide for this job

No afraid not, only requires removing the wheel and a big screw driver nothing to it really.

Hi, have you checked the drive shaft CV?

crowds

And my issue is all sorted now thanks though, cv joints were my main suspect but luckily it wasn't them.
