FN2 Rust fault on the roof near the windscreen

Hi Chaps,

pretty sure this will be a re-post as it's a known issue (I've read a bit about it)

Most if not all threads have said take it to the dealer, however it's a 57 plate car, and even the extended warranty wouldn't have it covered.

Has anyone taken theirs to a reputable body shop rather than the dealer?

Many thanks in advance.

P.S I know it's not exciting, and I think springs will be the first "proper" upgrade that I take on; I'd rather get to a healthy baseline before I start performance mods though!

Yes it's common issue.

It's also in the buyers guide: http://type-r-owners.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?84577-Buying-guide-check-list-for-the-FN2-Civic-Type-R

I've heard recently that Honda are covering this at least under goodwill still on early cars, so try your dealer first.

The issue is that if you have it just repsrayed at a bodyshop, then you don't get the revised windscreen rubber and your old rubber will more than likely wear through the paint again in time.

Cheers dude :)

I knew I was being a pain re-posting the issue, I was just concerned about the age of the motor. The fact that Honda themselves fit the revised rubber seal makes it a no brainer.

Off to the dealership.

Thanks again!

Don't be put of if the dealership say no, I had to go to Honda customer services after Marshall's in Peterborough told me there was no chance. My car is a 58 plate and they eventually agreed to do it.
