Guys,

The car is going in for a 'BIG' service!! Honda Garage Inverness has quoted me £420. :eek:

im wanting to make sure the valve clearances are done because when i start the car up i can hear a very slight 'ticking' sound coming from the engine.

would this be the valve clearances???:confused:

also, does anyone have any advice on how to get the price down from the garage?????

Mines in today for a biggy. €380 + new wipers :eek:

If you are not bothered about the Honda stamp then look for a specialist. As said above, TDI would be a good one.

Yarp, 40k km service (2 year).

Before he sent me off in his finest Type S, we went through the rigmorole of getting me a coffee, propping me up in the corner of the workshop whilst he did a brake tests. Then it went up on the lift and we were under it with torches having a poke around.

Then he went through the worksheet with me explaining everything that would be done.
He even gave me a list of oils to choose from!

I was asked if there were any squeaks, rattle or any issues I'd like them to look at! Just the wipers...which are €50 a set!

I did learn something though. Apparently the spark plugs on these are only changed every 100k km (60k miles)? Didnt stand out to me when I was trying to translate the service scheduling. Just thought it was always part of the big service.

So yes, by the time I get there tonight I expect to be parting with about 500 of europes finest monopoly money!

Yep, they're done on the 75k miles service in the UK, EP3 was the same..... some special type....
 
where is TDI North located?

im coming up for the 60k mark so i need it done soon, its only due a small service but i want everything checked for peace of mind, thats why honda said £420.

im not entirely bothered about the honda stamp. just want it done well!

oh well i think i found another garage thats a specialist.

got another garage checking out a price for me rather that F*****g Honda.

what a disgusting price to pay haha
 
Just been and picked mine up.
€355 including a bottle of screenwash and 2 new wipers. Cant grumble at that I suppose!
 
As per text, avoid MacRae and Dick Inverness. I've heard lots of stories of incompetence and have had my own personal experience with them.

Scratched the n/s wing bad, then said it was already there, even marked the job card after :mad:

Also, didn't adjust the tappets or change the gearbox oil, which was part of the service.

Eventually got them to repair the damaged wing at no cost to myself, took a few weeks of threatening letters and phone calls.

Bitz Motorsport in Nairn are good, the head mechanic really knows his stuff. Got my clutch and diff fitted there.

I only ever use Macrae and Dick for parts, any other reason I need a Honda garage takes me to Banff which is about twice as far in the car as MacRae and Cock.
 
Hi probably just needs an oil change as these engines are high revving i change my oil every 6 months as im a mechanic anyway. The spark plugs are platinum and should be replaced every 54000 miles or 5 years
 
nick- cheers mate, yeah i have been in touch with bitz and im getting a quote on monday, they seem friendly when i called
steveo- my plugs are probably coming up to that time now but ill get it all done with this other garage

job done, everything perfect, complimented by the mechanic for the car being 'mint':D,
drives much smoother after valve clearance!!

£279 well spent!! :D
 
Pretty much the same as mine. Looks as if valve clearance is what's making it smoother like mine then?
