My car is due it's first service in the next few months and I'm wondering whether or not to use my Honda dealership (considering System-R instead).
The reason I ask this is just before Christmas I smacked a rather large block on my way to work after on old farmer wall had collapsed due to heavy rain the night before http://type-r-owners.co.uk/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=6745&highlight=
Due to this incident the car now makes a terrible crunching noise when turning the wheel so I wanted to know what damage had been sustained to my suspension and I took my car to Ryland Honda in Cardiff.
Obviously I didn't tell them I had hit the block, just said it had developed the noise out of nowhere. It was taken into the workshop and after only having sat down for a few minutes the technician returned and basically said they couldn't look at it because I had Spoon progressives and they were not Honda parts and therefore couldn't even go near the suspension. It was even pointed out that my brakes 'were far from standard'.
I left a bit p1ssed off to say the least. After the noise got worse I took it back to there and spoke to a different technician who seemed more around my age and on my level. I basically told him what had happened and that I wasn't trying to get a warranty claim out them by saying the car had developed a fault and just wanted to have peace of mind.
Fair play to him he gave it a look over and confirmed some damage had been sustained. (Now ordering some new coilovers so it's not all bad )
What I'm basically trying to get at is this: I'm planning on modding the car even further and if my dealer is going to be funny about aftermarket parts is it worth the hassle when I could have it serviced at System-R no questions asked and probably with a better level of skill.
I would like to know what you guys think regarding this issue of servicing.
