EP3 Sills and jacking points?

I'm selling my ep3 (71k 3 owners fsh 2003) and before I put lots of adverts up someone's just asked me if the sills are crusty or the jacking points knacked. I only have limited mech knowledge, I can look up where the jacking points are and I assume hit them with a mallet? What are sills and how would I tell the difference between surface rust and crusty sills?
