Hi there,

so ive been reading the forums briefly like most people i just jump right in an thought id leave a post :) ive had a EP3 Type R for over a year, i had a head on crash in September last year, ive only just got around to putting the money together to buy the right parts to have it put back on the road, after buying a new bumper, headlights, wing, and all the others bits that come with it, shes alive again with just over 71k on the clock, so the owner before me installed a tegiwa intake witch makes a lovely noise at full throttle :D, ive taken the next step and put a full decat scorpion pipe on. im not sure what BHP its kicking out ? its very pokey.

so i think now my next step is either a K100 or a Kpro. and a remap so im getting the best out of my parts !!! im not sure where to get it remapped, or what to do next really i dont want some ****in donkey remapping my car and i dont wanna get ripped off in the process, ive had a brief look around i thought this would be a good place to put the question. I live in Birmingham, id be willing to pretty much travel nationally to get the best service at a fair price. i think the best ive found so far is TDI north ?!?

really my question would be, what parts should i be looking on getting next.. isit worth paying extra for the Kpro ! an just be done with it as i do plan on tuning the car more ! or just go for the k100... im not overly enthusiastic about cars. but these type r's are worth tuning :D

TDi-North without a doubt. Paul is one of, if not the best mapper in the country.

Go for the K100. It can be remapped again on it, it's just the tuner needs to do it as it doesn't have a USB port on it. Kpro is only any use if you want to do datalogging or mapping yourself which is far from recommended.
 
running the car with a tegiwa intake and a scorpion decat pipe, ive got about 3 weeks untill the remap, is the car ok untill then, people are telling me not to drive it untill ive had it remapped !!!!
 
can you point me in the direction of a place i can get a k100 and a remap, im looking on ebay and gumtree cant see too much, ive spoken to TDI north, there saying they will get back to me.. its all ****in long, its flagged up another ecu light now the guys rekons its a o2 senor. i kinda wish i red up a bit more in to it befor putting the pipe on, lad had a full skorpian off a written off one for 200 so i just snapped it up... im a bit ****ed off to be honest, i doubt tdi will touch the car with a engine management light on. most people are a bit funny about that. i just need someone who knows what there doing who isnt a complete idiot
 
im a bit prang about my little honda at the moment, im reading around various places online about tuning, its booked in at tdi north..start of next month its running fine, idles fine, i absolutely walloped another ep3 the other day, it did flag up an engine management light a couple weeks ago, witch im putting down to a senor. its got a skorpian pipe with a decat and the full teg m intake. the guy who fitted the pipe is saying the engine management light is from the cat/sensors ! will the car be ok till i make it to tdi ! i didnt know the car would run lean when its decated the guy in the garage didnt mention that. the pipe was a steal at 200/50 qwid fitting..
 
All of the above really. The EML is on because the secondary O2 sensor is expecting a CAT to be there and it isn't, so the readings it is getting are all out of whack. Yes it will run lean as the stock ECU can't adjust enough to throw more fuel in to compensate for the gasses being able to flow through the engine better.
Yes it will be fine short term, as long as you aren't going to high revs regularly, as that is when it leans out the most. Longer term and you'll be looking at damage caused from knock/detonation, whatever you want to call it.
 
Ideally you want to start planning things round your next remap. Your car is now mapped to your mods and any changes will mean it'll need a tweak or a complete new remap.

Therefore on the next changes, do as much as possible and then do the remap.

If money wasn't an option, race header instead of the Scorpion decat pipe, RBC inlet manifold, 70mm throttle body and TDi-North drop in cams. You'd be at around 260 or more on TDi-North's dyno with that.
