Spoon lowering springs and wheel spacers.

Hi everyone,i will be getting my Dc5 soon and the first mod i'll do is the fast road setup from Tom at TGM.I'll probably go for Spoon springs over the Eibachs as i've heard that they lower the car slightly more than the Eibachs.
I'm also thinking of putting some wheel spacers on the car,maybe 10 or 15mm ,to give it a wider stance.
Has anybody tried this before?is it safe?how would it affect the handling?

Spoon springs can make a knocking noise tho, but Im sure Tom will go through that with you
