Supra engine build

Me and my mate are attempting to rebuild his 2jz gte and i was wondering if any of you have attemped this. For people that don't know the engine, its a 3.0 Twin Turbo A/T. Neither of us have great knowledge on building engines, though we've got through out the winter to do it, so wouldn't be rushing things.

Few things first, the engine came out yesterday and we've taken off the engine wiring loom and intake manifold/fuel rail. What would you say to do next? Can anyone sugguest any specialist tools we might require through out the build and also what kind of mods could we look at? ie cams, pistons etc. Being a Honda owner, i'm not to up on what decent performance parts for Toyota's are on the market.

Any help/tips would be great!

Chris

Sounds like loads of fun mate, which I had the time and space for such a project.

A good torque wrench would be a good investment;)

My mate has a T/T supra and he uses http://www.mkivsupra.net/ so I'd guess that place might have some good info or even people local to you for you pick their brains. ;)

My mate who's car it is, is on that site.

We just thought with the big ends shot, we'd start a little (well big) project! We've got the engine crane, stand and a fair few tool sets.;)
