Timing chain guides?

I'm gonna change the timing chain and tensioner on my ep3. Do people recommend doing the guides too? They're so expensive! What should I look for in terms of wear?

Also, where do people recommend getting a kit from? Seen one on ebay but it's from Japan and I want it ASAP.

False economy not to do the guides in my opinion. They’re made from plastic and do go brittle over time risking the chance of one possibly breaking.
Also if the chain is worn then it adds wear to the guides.

As Lewis says, if you’re changing the chain you do the full job.

Agree. The guides might be expensive but they are cheap compared to an engine rebuild if it all let's go.
