type r Fd2 stereo

In the civic type r fd2 it has the big double din Square place for a decent stereo.
I got a new stereo priced up yesterday with the wires and came to over £1k

The guy was saying it's a very rare model and the leads and the plate costs over £400
I have been modifying cars for years and I am used to people talking absolute crap lol

There is a cheap cd player normal stereo in place at the moment and works fine.
I want a double din worth Sat nav/tv/dvd/bluetooth and radio and cd. Basically the lot and have seen decent ones on eBay.
So can someone help me and tell me what I need to get one of these fitted please.

I don't know what leads or anything.

Thanks in advance

I need to figure this out myself. Mine has a single DIN Kenwood in there at the moment.

I'm going to try and do some research if I get time tonight, but £400 for leads seems like a load of tosh and it has a frame in there already that you can bolt a cage to.

I think you will also need an adapter to go between the headunit and the cars loom ,it's less than £5 but I don't have a link for it.Mike at Torque GT can tell you that one.
I have a feeling it's the one below ,but check your loom first.

I had a feeling the Hybrid stuff would fit.

Rubbish. I just fitted and standard double din to mine. Happened to be the correct connector too.

Just needed the surround that Stuart has put a link for and one that comes with unit will be too big.

The headunit in mine was taken out in Japan before it was exported ,so presume a few parts were lifted with the stereo.
Hence why I needed the above .
You need to have the headunit out to see what parts are needed.
Hope that clears things up.

Hope you don't think I was saying rubbish to you stuart. Now I've read it back it does look like that.

I mean it towards what the OP wrote about the guy fitting it.

Mine had a stereo in already but I changed to double which is why I had the correct fittings.

This is why I love forums.

Cheers guys Thanks for all your help.
I will take it out the weekend and have a look and order some bits.
Will update my post. Cheers

Take some pics of the process if you don't mind. I've not got a clue how you even get to the existing head unit to get it out.

Excellent!
Is it a pull the dash facia away job or do you have to unbolt it first?
