Type R Number 2 Facelift JDM EP3!!! **Small update**

Looks a nice clean example!
Only thing I'd change is the JDM sized plates for standard UKDM. Especially on the front where it has the recess for a regular number plate. A JDM front one looks pants in my opinion.

Absolutely stunning car! The FL is growing on me more n more.

Random question, how do you find the headlights at night? Is the light dispersion decent? On my JDM PFL the lights work ok, but cant really see anything decent when comparing to say a DC5 or Evo light patterns (Just throws the light out in no real focused pattern). Reason I ask is I'm toying with getting a set of FL projectors to cure this bad light issue, but cant really find any concrete info and my Japanese isn't that marvelous.

Drove the car for the first time in the dark last night and the headlights are brilliant, the light dispersion is perfect. FL lights would definately be a good upgrade if yours arent that great.

So small update....

Treated myself to a japspeed 4-2-1 manifold, some energy inserts and booked a fresh mapping session with Romain on the 20th May. Little while to wait as he's such a busy man these days.

Previous owner done all the usual breathing mods except and aftermarket manifold so thought why not see if we can gain a few more ponnies.

Also have got the wheels being refurbed this coming week and i've added some 3mm spacers for better cleanrence over the spoon calipers so looking forward to getting this all done.

And a few recent photo's.

Just get Gary at APT to map it, he's one of the best mappers in the country.

Keen to see how the header improves performance over the stock ones, as the jdms apparently flow quite well from the factory.

Cars absolutely stunning still as well, refurbed rims really finish it off.

Looks a stunning example! I had an EK4 which I had repsprayed in Championship White, loved it in the summer months!

Thanks for the kind comments guys. Will post up the results when i have had it mapped, be interesting to see the power figures as last time it was done by TDI so we will see...

I'd seriously consider speaking to Gary at APT. My car was mapped by Romain a few years ago, I had it redone recently and the difference is night and day.

I had mine done by romain recently and the car drives perfectly. I don't have anything to compare against but I'm very happy with it. Drives better than standard and even the mpg is up quite a bit! Plus the extra go does help!

Yeah i had romain map my dc5 and was very happy with the results and with my jdm ep being mapped by tdi i would say i prefer the drive better with romains map hence why im going back really.

Few updates, wheels have been refurbished, manifold has now been fitted along with the energy inserts and have had a fresh oil change using Fuchs Titan Pro s and a HAMP filter, im in for mapping at perfect touch with romain tomorrow so looking forward to seeing him work his magic.

A friend reccomended a ral colour 9010 and its pretty much an exact match so very pleased.

The Shiny Part ;)

That's it for now but will update once i have figures/graphs etc. looking forward to seeing how it drives with romains map compared with tdi's should be interesting.

Wednesday 24th May I arrived at Perfect Touch in Hoddesdon for 8.30am ready for romain to do his thing.

For those interested this is the previous print out from TDI North.

Obviously this time round with the addition of the japspeed manifold it doesnt make it an exact comparison but still gives a good idea.
Romain done a power run to see what the car was making pre map and he said it made 230bhp. About an hour or so later once he was finished the results were in and it made 238.7bhp and 165.7lbft of torque, Romain said temps were a bit high due to the hot weather so the aem isnt the best of intake in these circumstances but i already knew this and for how often we have nice weather i wasen't particularly bothered he also went on to say its a strong engine and had made 210bhp at the wheels which he was very pleased with and so was i.

Vtec is now cutting in at 4800rpm as apposed to 5500rpm before hand and i have to say the car feels so much better, more punchy, more alive and the mid range feels much better to. Im really happy with how it drives/feels and revs a bit higher now with it going all the way to 9000rpm!!!! So that will be pretty much it for now other than maintaining it and getting out in it on sunny days.

Thanks for reading. :)

Well actually thinking about it maybe longer I was sat in a waiting room so can't remember now! Feels amazing so I'm well happy!

I'm glad you are.

Mine was on the dyno all day with another tuner...

Finally after nearly a year of searching i managed to get hold of some genuine JDM wind deflectors, its always bugged me not having them since i bought the car but i refused to pay £250 for a set from tegiwa and luckily managed to pick these up off the honda parts facebook page for a bargain and they literally are as new condition, well worth the JDM points 8)
