Has anybody removed the insulation from under their bonnet ? I'm curious as to whether it would let me hear the engine a bit more if I remove it.

Yes lots of people have done it, and yes you do hear the engine note a bit more.
 
I have done this, slight more sound, but only a little and I don't really notice it anymore.

Looks nicer without too.
 
I did it on my S2000.

Put it back on after about 20 minutes.

I got a huge slice down the side of my finger too while getting it off. I ran my hand/finger under it and tried to pop the clips out.

Like a tusk through blubber it went.
 
Ouch suits, think I will give it a try and see for myself if it makes much difference, cheers
