Vtec Controllers

Messages

I am contemplating investing in a Vtec controller and need some advice/info...just stuff like pro's, cons, are they effective, fitting etc.. For example can u simply reduce the point at when the vtec kicks in and does it kick in with the same ferocity..the idea of reducing the vtec kickin in from 6k rpm down to 4.5k rpm say sounds v tempting! ;)

Cheers

Greg

Pretty much no to all your questions.

VTEC controllers don't really work on the K20 engines. To get anything worthy then have a look at the ECU section, and the K100/Kpro options and have them mapped properly.

And You not U please;)

What about the ATR, just looking in Banzai, and saw buddyclub vtec controller with a tag of £40.25. If anyone has ever had this on an ATR, please state if any good, fuel, power does it make a big difference etc. Also rough price on installing by an experienced specialist. As I've heard if wrongly fitted could damage whole engine. ??????
Roughly kicking in at 5.7
Thinking about 4.5 or 4.8

My mate is investing in one of these and i told him it probably wouldnt work!

Whats the reason it wont work, and whats the point in inventing one if it isn't going to work?

It will work making the engine vtec but that's all it will do, the map will remain the same so the fueling/timing will be out

Ecu is the best way as this be mapped for the vtec point

Does this mean a remap can change the point of vtec, i.e bring it down to 4.5-4.8 & keep the fueling and timing spot on rather than just a vtec controller on it's own.
