Vtec engaging or not?

Hi, i have a fn2 ctr with 68k 2007.
I am not certain if vtec is engaging properly?

Light comes on to say vtec is engaged and sounds great and certainly goes well,but should there be a bit of a kick when it engages or have i just got used to it and convinced myself its not as brutal/aggressive as it once was.
I am running her on Fuchs Titan Race Pro S 5W-40 Ester Fully Synthetic Engine Oil with genuine honda filter.

Any advice welcomed please.

I can properly feel it 'kick' in my DC5 there's certainly a power change.

It's not as much of a kick in an FN2 as they produce relatively decent(ish) mid-range so the kick isn't as exagerrated on crossover.

I think its the same as my mates fn2 its probably just me getting used to it.
