Anyone had problem with the VTEC not kicking in at 6000 revs all the time. Recently ive notived that the air filter does not make the same noise it usually does and the vtec doesnt seem to kick it. Cleaned the air filter and didnt make any different. Only seems to affect 2nd gear, other are fine. Any ideas would be much appreiciated
 
These may sound obvious but...

Car needs to be up to temperature. It's dangerous to rev above 4-5k within the first 10 mins of driving and VTEC will not work until coolant is up to temp.

Oil pressure. Low oil will mean oil pressure is too low, so VTEC will not even try to work.
 
Yeah i dont rev it hard for about 15 mins until it is fully upto temperture.

Havent as yet looked a the oil, so will look at that next.
