Vteker's **412.31WHP** K20 Supercharged - FD2-R Conversion

Messages

This car started it's life as a 1.4 Civic Hybrid FD3 and it's the first and only to have had a complete conversion carried out, literally every nut and bolt has been swapped from a genuine import FD2. A big thanks to the previous owner who poured loads of sweat, blood, tears, ££££ thousands and cursing involved during the full conversion that took a couple of months to complete.
Has had many magazine features, attended a lot of shows and turns my head every time I look at it and blows my mind every time I get in and drive it!

So a written off FD2R was sourced for the conversion (at the time the only complete on in the UK)

And the conversion then began with the engine out and breaks etc!

The inside was fully stripped.

I will not include the whole build pictures as it is too extensive so here we go!

Still registered as a 1.4...?

Looks good, spent a fair whack on it but not sure the XXR 527's stack up.

You say FD2R you just mean the Type R not the RR?

Thanks Fools, for some reason the XXR's look better in the flesh but I have thought about replacing them so will have to research on different wheels at some point!
I have a long list of mods so will focus on that and probably leave the wheels for last!
That's right FD2R for Type R :D

Im sure OP can confirm or not if they wish, but I'm sure I saw in the PH ad it was still listed as a 1.4

Fair play on the conversion though.

That's a mad project fair play awesome looking car. But in I'm going to ask the lowest common denominator question here. Why didn't you just buy an fd2 type r in the first place?

The car is going through the registration process at the moment so soon will have an engineers report including the engine replacement as advised by dvla.

The reason I bought it was because its unique and the craziest project I've seen with a civic. Test drove a FD2 and there is not much of a difference at all apart from power this is a pure road beast!

Crazy project is putting it mild some serious work gone into that. Absolutely far play to you. Did you seem weld the shell when she was stripped?

Not the OPs project, done by the previous owner.

Can dispute the effort but I still don't understand this car and the money put into it. Why not just buy an FD2? It's like converting an EP2 to a JDM EP3 spec, I don't get it.

That's my exact train of thought

This car was part of a sponsored project that it would be possible to convert to fd2 hence lots of money thrown in by previous owner not me! I bought the car already finished. How many people convert EG civics to K20a even EP2 to EP3 spec is that a bad thing? It's still a Honda at the end of the day and one of a very high spec! I did not get it either until I drove it! It just blew my mind!

The previous owner banded a figure of £45k build price around. That's just what I don't get. You could have built the same car with an FD2 to start with for half that.

Don't get me wrong, nice car and all. Enjoy.

some people have more money than sense but a sponsored project makes a little more sense, the whole part of modifying is to make a car different, make it your own, bragging rights, standing out it's all each to their own but this car defiantly stands out

Previous owner had all this work carried out whilst the chassis was stripped lots of welding to seems! Chassis is as stiff as hell!!

Thanks bud, that is a valid point there Loxy I asked myself the very same question as most of you guys! But the guy who I bought the car from is a young entrepreneur with very deep pockets and the Civic was his very first car! His next car was waiting for him, this V8 AMG Bi-Turbo!

That is very true bud, when I go through the receipts and paperwork I'm like WTF? How much? Damn someone really has very deep pockets!! It is a one of a kind motor more FD2 than FD3, insane!
And the amount of spare carbon bits that was included with the car is unbelievable!!

Stock K20a is the king of boost:eek:
