EP3 Water in boot - not light gaskets (EP3 Type R)

Messages

Hi all...I have an issue with water in my spare wheel well every time it rains. It is dripping down from the top of the rear pillar where the rear screen wash hose leads up towards the boot (pic attached) and down the hose then in to the boot.

Now I assumed it was the gasket for the rear screen wash hose that was at fault as it would make sense but after disconnecting the hose and blanking the area where the rubber gasket normally sits it off with waterproof tape it still leaks a steady drip from the same area when I hose down the rear of the car. I know it isn't the light gaskets as its above them but the headlining isn't wet so that should rule out the aerial...

Does anyone have any ideas? Is there anywhere along the black plastic roof trim where they clip in and it could leak from?

Any help much appreciated.

This is my first post so if everything is all over the place forgive me.

I had the exact same problem this weekend and I think I have temporalily fixed it. I spent quite a bit of time with my mate in the car and a hose (whay) till I found where the leak came in. Like you I first assumed it was the gasket for the rear screen wash hose, but after sealing it up I then started the search again. I then found that where the roof gutters run along to the boot there are a few hair line cracks, which according to this source (http://honda-tech.com/showthread.php?t=2832053&styleid=2) can let water in. After filling these up with silicone sealant and letting it dry I turned the hose on it and no water appeared in the boot.

I assume the reason for this is fatigue. Perhaps a slight design fault if this has occurred in the same place as yours.

My future plan is to follow the links advice and use seam sealant for that area. Below are some pictures I took whilst doing it. Hope their helpful. Sorry about some of the image quality.

Hi mate I didn't update this thread and I should have but that's exactly what mine was too! It was so difficult to find but I also used sealant along the underneath of the rails and it fixed it, I'm guessing it will become more of an issue for others as the civic gets old.

Those pics are spot on exactly same place as mine!

Will probably do the other side of mine just in case. Thanks for reply though bud.

Hi, I too have the paddling pool feature in the boot. How did you remove the trim in the gutter area of the roof? Don't want to force it n brake something.
Anyone addvice welcome.

Hi there, The trim has key holes either end of the car, which are connected to pins in the gutter. So you should be able to just slide them off the pins.
