EP3 Wet Passengers Seat

Messages

Hi guys, i have a 2006 ep3 and i have noticed since i got the car the passengers seat is wet after heavy rain and the car is a nightmare to keep demisted when driving in the rain. I have traced this back to the door seal being knackered. A friend of mine mentioned putting a bit plastic or seomthing in the door seal to push it out so it seals better. Should i try his solution or should i just replace the seal with a new one? Thanks in advance for your advice

Hi, the demisting may be seperate problem, have you changed the pollen filter lately, if its clogged it restricts air flow, also have you tried with the a/c on as it dries the air throuth the heater iirc?

Answered your own question there fella.

Also your friend mentioned putting something in there to push it out rather than replace a damaged bit of rubber that was designed to keep water out???? Yeah, don't let him work on your car.

Problems with demisting will almost certainly be down to the fact his car is full of water. Pollen filters are cheap as chips so won't hurt to replace them, but if the seat is soaked then it won't make sod all difference until the interior is nice and dry.

Hi Danger thanks for the advice, I going to buy a new seal this week and replace it. I thought replacing it would be the best fix but I wanted to check with you guys in case the was another fix to be aware off.

To be honest, as the seat fabric is not actually connected to the floor, it wont be getting wet from water rising (i.e. a footwell leak from possible pollen filter block) and soaking into it. So the only other thing that would be getting it wet would be the seal around the window possibly. But other than that no mate, I'm quite surprised the seat is wet from a buggered door seal, must be properly mangled to be letting that much water in.

Yeah I will change the door seal and let you know if this solves this problem. I think it will . thanks for your help.
