What Grade Oil is Best???

Hello I'm currently using 5w 30 Fully and seem to be burning about a ltr a week. I'm pretty much always in vtec I've heard they burn oil in vtec but people are saying use a thicker oil as it won't get through seals etc. does anyone suggest thicker oil and go up to a 40 or 50.

5-40 did mine last weekend needing to do the gearbox oil but cant seem to find the lock for the standard locking nut on the type r
