Avoid D2 like the plague. Utter crap. A view that will be echoed by more than me I would think.
 
Springs if your not taking car on track.

I find my Teins very crashy and harsh on roads but they are awesome on track

This. Standard suspension with lowering springs is a great setup for the road.
 
Would have to agree standard with springs gives you the best of both worlds where as the coilovers are a little hard on the road and can actually upset it on really bumpy stuff when pushing hard
 
Well, that does depend on how the damper of the coilovers are designed and specified.
If it was done correctly for fast road usage, it doesn't have to be ultra stiff and upset the traction on uneven road surfaces.

However, if you just want to lower the car a little and isn't too fuss about having control over your ride height or your damping, then springs are a good choice also since the standard EP3 dampers are also good to begin with.
