Wipers...struggling to take off

Does anyone know how to take the wiper arms off completely.
I have an EP3 and they need to be painted. I took the nuts off but they wouldn't budge. Should they just pull off or is there a technique?

They just off but can be tight, you need to make sure you're pulling them square.
 
Use some WD40 and let it soak, then pull from various angles, as Neil says pull it square.

I noticed that pulling it round worked the best (ie, in the motion it would go)
