Jimbo's Banger rally BEAST build

Gellions? Well, at least the regulars will probably have blown their dole money by sunday night and be at home drinking special brew....

It looks like my flight gets in at 9:10, I'll message you and see what we can figure out.

Yes Gellions apparently, although means nothing to me

Small update, the wheels are done.

These were supposed to be painted yellow, but we got a little excited over the glow in the dark paint in halfrauds.

Anyway I think it looks epic in the day, will see what night time brings

Oh and the spolier is fully secured down now

Just the missing decals and the Nippa's done

So an impulse buy at halfords counter lead to a V8 badge

Also a nice exhaust trim to go on the holey blowing exhaust:

Hell, go the whole hog, turbo badge, STi, RS, M, etc.

would be good, I do have a classic mini badge, civic badge and an mx5 badge knocking about somewhere.

but time is an issue now, we set off tomorrow and none of us have booked any accommodation. Lets hope some campsites are open

UPDATE TIME:

We won 2 out of 3 awards.

Took first place for overall winners and only team gain full points.

Medals, trophy and the prize cash!

Also won best dressed, came second on best dressed car.

The car will be kept as it performed so well over the 1136 miles we did in it, the clock spring started rubbing and making a nice scraping noise, but that was the only issue.
It will be stripped to standard and prepped for a new theme and the next banger rally.

Hanging on for our lives in this thing, but embarrassed a few cars (I should say drivers, as the cars should have been more than capable) on back roads that couldn't keep up with us through the corners.

The most fun car I have ever driven, without a doubt. Many cars put a smile on your face,
but this one reduces you to tears of laughter as you blast it through the corners

Had to drop into 1st gear to get up some of the hills though.

Here's a couple of random pictures from the weekend.

We ended up spending all the prize cash on whiskey which was then all drank from the trophy

For those of you thinking about doing one, Just book it and never look back, great fun and met some great people.

what did all the other teams do for sleeping then?

Got a pic of the best dressed car? Want to see what beat you.

They all did travel lodge, premier inn etc.

Best dressed car is below (won two years in a row too, they also took part in no challenges.. and no fancy dress)

Best dressed team and car are voted for by other rally participants

although tbf their flashing lights and siren destroyed ours

UPDATE 2019:

So looks like we are booking another this year!

Same car of course as it is too good, just more upgrades.

Working on themes and my wife came up with one, that she isn't happy about us plagiarising as she wanted to join the rally in a team of her own.

Crayon theme.

Quick mock up on Photoshop of how it might work:

Possible costumes:

There's a lot to work on, needs new exhaust, rad and brakes minimum before MOT.
Have a 57 inch BGW in carbon that might go on too.

Looks like that old VW Polo that came out all multicoloured. This will be full of WIN!!!
