We've had our FK8 over 2 years now. It's a fantastic car all round. Only thing that lets it down is the POS infotainment system .... but that's been discussed to death now. Apart from that there's absolutely nothing I can complain about. And that's unusual for me :) Hope you enjoy the new motor.

Pretty sure we're around £250 a year. Was £180 until I hit a barrier in a car park. Even with protected NCD it gets whacked up a bit.

Collected this one on Tuesday as my day to day commuting car (since the wife won't give me the Civic) :) 180bhp, Koni dampers, Brembo brakes, Monza valved exhaust system and Sabelt bucket seats. Not quite the FK8 but it makes a hell of a lot more noise.

My learner car was a Maestro and was truly horrible. Swapped instruuctor and the new one had a Sunny 1.4 and it was so much better to drive.

Been taking my 17 year old out in the FK8 quite a bit as he's waiting for his test and noticed that metallic L plates won't stick to the bonnet or boot. They work on the roof and sides, so what is the difference. Are these sections not made of metal?

Repaired the front passenger side alloy. Wife parked up on Sunday in heavy rain where they had been laying fibre cables and some of the loose stones chipped the outer edge. 5 minutes with some fine sand paper and black Hammerite and it's as good as new again :)

Apart from my dealer trying it on for £480 of tyres the work and service has been ok. They make nothing on the service pack so sometimes try and add work on. Always better to decline and get a second opinion.

Given up on the ST at the moment. I got some other quotes and they were all over £500. I had a chat with a couple of specialist insurers and the bottom line is the ST has a terrible reputation for being stolen by neds and crashed, hence the "high risk" category. Back to the Seat Mii, 0-60 in...

I'm 53 and my wife is 46 so hopefully if we can get insurance on the ST sorted out we'll have the same two cars.

Thanks for that. Did some research and it seems they have sort of fixed the problem with the 2020 model, but unfortunately insurers still class them all as one car hence the high price. Axa must have had a lot of claims on them. Apparently trying specialist insurers like Adrian Flux might help...

When I got new front tyres fitted they mentioned the excessive wear, can't remember if it was inner or outer. They offered laser alignment around £60 but I gave it a miss at the time. You wouldn't expect a new car with 12k miles to need alignment but you never know ......

My wife noticed last week that our AC has gone "warm". That probably explains it then!

Got back from holiday. removed both front wheels and no cord showing whatsoever. Both tyres perfectly serviceable. Bit surprised at a Honda dealer "trying it on", especially when they're £80 more expensive for a set of tyres fitted. Not sure if I should go back to them and ask them to verify...

Cheers for the offer, we're in Aberdeen which is about a million miles away. I had a look of the tyre when they delivered the car back and I can't see anything obvious. Will get it checked out at Kwik-Fit before I try and get new ones. Could be the dealer just trying it on but I'd hope not.

Just had first year service done. Front tyres have 4mm left but one of them has a cut that is through to the wire. Honda quoting £483 for a pair of Continental but I can get the Michelin for £420 elsewhere. Apparently they need replaced in pairs for the TPMS?

Was in by my dealer a couple of weeks ago and they said they are still waiting on a fix from Honda and its dragging on a bit. Lots of people on the list for the mod if it ever happens.

Yeah, the audio system is crap. Coming from a Chrysler 300C with an inbuilt system specced by Alpine to this was a major downgrade. In fact, I just bought a Seat Mii as a second car for 8 grand and the "beats" audio in it is better. Nuff said!

Hi there, removing the handles is easy enough. You need to push up the plastic panel with the door controls, remove a screw behind it then wedge the main door panel off at the outside edge. Then there are three silver screws and a clip holding the handle in place. Remove them and it slides up...

Those covers arrived today. They are not slip on but need to be glued down. I removed the old fabric and used double sided sticky tape. Quite a bit of trimming needed but between myself and my wife (who is a tailor) we did both the front ones in around an hour including removing the panels...

Washed and dried the Civic last night. took ages because of all the nooks and crannies but it's looking great now. I'll give it a matter of hours until the birds have shat all over it!

Got the car back last night. Seems the radar was out of alignment. They also said Honda are still working on a fix for the parking sensors going off on their own but it's taking ages!

Went in by the dealer and it needs to be booked in. Not very impressed as they have no courtesy cars, no pickup service and no waiting appointments either. A bit inconvenient but hey ho.

Both the webcam and lighting kit draw hardly any power.

It will be fine. I have had both the dashcam and lighting kit in place for months now with no issues at all.

We checked last week and surprisingly the FK8 is the same width and only 45cm shorter than our Chrysler 300C Certainly not a hot hatch any more but a very comfortable family saloon!

Just been on our first reasonably long run and my wife has been getting flashed out of the way a few times whilst sitting at 70 with the ACC set at 70. Loaded up my Android GPS app and it reports the car doing just under 66. Set the ACC to 73 and the app now says 69. Anyone else noticed this.

Reading above, is it possible to permanently disable the start stop as it's a massive PITA. Thanks!

Just happened to me earlier. I was sitting at 30 on a clear road (not raining either)with the ACC on and the car suddenly came up with a warning and slammed the anchors on. Taxi behind me nearly rammed the back. How do you disable this as I found a button on the right lower dash but it doesn't...

Noticed the interior roof light is making a "fizzing" noise around 3000rpm. Does anyone know if it's easy to remove so I can look inside and see what's making the noise? Thanks!

I have to go through the insurance as there is also damage behind it. One of the radiator mounts is completely smashed. The black shiny plastic section above has a crack in it too and the spoiler/skirt is damaged. I never read the small print on the insurance, and the accidental damage excess...

The connector that comes with Rick's kit has a positive controlled with the headlights. That wouldn't be any use for a dashcam.

Took me 5 minutes to wire in a Nextbase dashcam direct to the fuse box rather than the 12v socket. Neater too. Cables all run easily enough and it's one wire to the negative screw then piggyback on to any fuse that has ignition control. One thing though, the Nextbase hard wiring kit takes...

How up to date is the in-built Sat Nav? I loaded the latest update from the Garmin site a few days ago then travelled down to Edinburgh. The whole queensferry Crossing and associated link roads were completely missing even though it opened a year ago. Is this normal?

Only because the press prefer the boring German cars. Can't say personally I have an issue with the Fk8 looks at all. Its edgy and different. Only had my one 10 days and have had loads of compliments. Not many FK8s up here though.

We had two sets of Hankooks on our 300C and they were great. Did 25k on the first set. no issues at all.

Question relating to the inbuilt sat-nav. We have some new roads up here (new city bypass) and it's not on the current system although we only got the car last week. Is it possible to update the maps on the system and of so how? Thanks!

BMW list prices are silly. and the price of extras that are standard on the Civic. We had a look in the BMW garage in Glasgow last week and walked out in disgust. 74k for the M4 ..... they must be having a laugh. My mate got a 435d last year, list including extras 48k but he got 10 grand off...

Yeah, I think so. I traded in 2 cars and the dealer gave me £750 more than the other local dealer offered. They also threw in mats and the tailgate spoiler free of charge as well.

Brand new, not broken yet :) The wife is off with it tonight, I had a quick spin earlier today and it's pretty decent. I traded in an Abarth 595 which was brilliant but this is on a whole new level.

Picking up our new FK8 in red tomorrow at 11:30. Super excited. Looking forward to driving the Civic, seemed awesome in the test drive :)
