Hi Guys,
Well, I've been meaning to get a thread started documenting my EP3 for months! I have owned the car for a year..bought in Novemeber 2015, being my first ever Honda, I have had Volkswagens in many forms for around 12 years since passing my test. I became bored of the VWs for many reasons.
Before i get any further, even though owning many MK1 and MK2 Golfs a Polo G40, the EP3 is my most favourite car I've ever owned. It's been a breath of fresh air. I love the Honda Community also, been to a couple of shows this year! Mimms at Rockingham Raceway being my favourite.
Here is how she looked when i first bought her 07/11/15, in all honesty i looked at around 6 before buying this one, so many ragged EP3s, people lying about history and condition. This one i knew needed a bit of work, but was a solid base car and got it for a steal!
Nice bit of positive camber going on , the car did feel a bit tired, poor budget tyres fitted on the front, hardly any traction. I looked to Loxy for some advice on where to go first with the car, and was so helpful (thanks buddy). He advised a FRSU so this was going to be my first modification, but first was to sort the small bits out, new badges, headlight correction, tyres, service etc.
Once this was completed I took on Loxy's advice and headed 3 and a half hours to Grinspeed to get a fast road setup done by the legendary Stevie, So ABP Eibach lowering springs, camber bolts and arms:
Must say, Stevie is an absolute legend and is worth the trip from North London to Preston! Here was the results
Night and Day difference:
Car felt absolutely incredible once done, i highly recommend Stevie! The tyres were all changed to Bridgestone Potenzas RE050A, completely transformed from the tired old girl i first bought.
26/03/16 - Tegiwa M and Tegiwa Cat back fitted, really nice addition and the difference in power was highly noticeable, I didn't want a Loud exhaust system as i do plan to track the car next year, the noise of the Tegiwa intake is lovely
Next on the cards was to get the timing chain done as it was a little stretched, my plan is to keep this car for the long term so wanted to get it done for Peace of mind, at the same time i chose the energy inserts for the engine mounts, which was carried out more locally by Phil at Dream Automotive, another specialist i highly recommend!
Then became the dilemma of whether to go down the power route, or maybe look into a LSD, the clutch did feel a little tired, so decided to go for a clutch, MFactory Racepack diff and thought while i was at it throw in a Spoon 5:1 final drive, once again left at 5am for a road trip to Stevie at Grinspeed, Stevie managed to do it in around 6 hours, clutch was cattle trucked:
08/08/16
While the box was undergoing some work :
Unreal, car feels immense now, completely transformed the car since i first bought it, this is how she currently stands. Next on the list is uprated ARB, maybe progress, and some Skunk2 lower control arms. New genuine headlights will be on the cards as one is cracked and is misting badly.
I'm looking forward to what 2017 brings, I will be hopefully doing a few track days. I'm hoping that i will be at the stage of Header, RBC and Mapping, heres to hoping
Thanks for looking, Hopefully get to meet a few of you at some shows next year.
Luke
