FN2 19" rage alloys poss different tyres

i have 225 35 19 tyres on my rage alloys.im going to buy some good make part worn tyres as i can't afford new.
my question is, can i fit any other tyre sizes onto these rims as I'm seeing things like 225 40 19 and not sure what these mean.im only going off what I'm actually running on my car at the moment

The 35/40 part of it is what percentage of the width of a tyre is the sidewall height going to be. If you go from a 35 to a 40 the sidewall is taller and so the rolling circumference is different and it can throw your speedo out.

Recommendations are no more than 2% change from OEM.

In this case it's over 3% so not recommended.

cool thanks for the reply.im just going to have to dig deep i think.i don't want **** tyres but damn are they expensive for good tyres.maybe i should sell the 19" rages and get a standard set of 18's.
aaah thats interesting..........how do 18" and 19" alloys affect the speedos then?

Different profile (sidewalls) of the tyres, so the rolling circumference is almost identical. 225/35R19v225/40R18.

The ride and handling is better on the 18"s.
