3000 RPM Rattle [Fixed - Driveshaft Heat Shield]

Thanks for the advice

hopefully they wont keep hold of my car too long as it took me long enough to get it off them in the first place

seems like the clutch release bearing then. sorry I was under the impression it was just when moving.

check your warranty and see if its covered. It should be.

yeah it will be, i got 3 months on anything mechanical so they will have to do it :D

took the car back today to let them hear the problem

they said as its quite a lot of labour it will probably be just as easy and cheaper for them? to put a new clutch in

result ? :D

It's pretty much the same amount of work to replace the clutch as to get to and replace the bearing. Probably only around 20 mins of extra work to actually fit the clutch.

Impressed with Ron Hodgson then. Let us know how you get on. :smt023

update:

spoke to ron again today im booked in at railway motors in westhoughton , who specialise in clutches apparantly, on thursday and theyre gonna have a look inside of everything for me :)

update:

been to railway motors, the guy had a drive, did a few tests, listened for any noises

he said its deffo not the clutch, there is a little noise coming from the gearbox but i dont think its the noise im hearing, also drive shaft heat shield isnt loose which was what i also suspected.

he said give it another month to see if it worsens...

do you think it could be something to do with the exhaust? i think i still have the standard system on and it looked rusty as hell when the car was up in the air.

its just around 3000rpm im hearing this noise, i might just get a full stainless steel exhaust system and get some new discs/pads and go from there

ummm just watch it mate, you,ll go back in a month and then they,ll say give it another month and so on....
and before you know it your warranty will be out of the window!
if noise is still there in a month take it back and push for it sorting.

I'm pretty local to you bud if you want to meet up one night or over the weekend?

I'm not saying I'll know exactly what it is, but another pair of ears and all that.

I don't see what you would be giving it a month for. Nothing's been replaced to bed in, so it's still going to be there.

What have Ron Hodgson said, it's up to them really to investigate further.

thanks loxy, where abouts in lancs are you ?

im getting a new exhaust system fitted monday so ill wait til thats done to see if the noise is still there, im gonna get new oem discs/pads too as mine are rusty as hell.

i probably wont hear it with my new exhaust anyway :D

Just down the road. ;)

In between Wigan and Preston.

What exhaust are you getting?

Edit: Just seen Pipewerx. Have heard good things of them locally, a Scooby mate has recommended them to me in the past. He used to have a Corrado and they have done quite a few for the people on the Corrado Owners Forum

right, new exhaust fitted... still got the rattle around 3000RPM

when they fitted my exhaust they said the cat heat shield was loose , so they removed it but the noise is still there.

what other heat shields could i try? manifold ?

seems more noticible when cold too

ps. mods feel free to move this to the problems section, thanks

i mate

i had the same problem a while back rattling between 3k and 4k when accelerating and soon as i dipped the clutch it disappeared, checked my driveshaft and all botlts were tight, gave them a quick tighten, took her for a test drive and the rattling was still there, so decided to whip it off and has'nt rattled since, i did a search and read about the clutch release bearing and sh*t my pants haha as was tight for monies at the time, but lucky for you your warrented

hope this helps atleast a little bit haha
