Brake Disks

I have just been advised by my local Honda dealer after a service that i need to replace all 4 brake discs as they are heavily worn (Guy who owned the car before me obviously did a lot of braking considering the car has only done 20,000 miles).

I asked him about uprating the disks and pads and he advised against as they do not reach optimum braking temperature fast enough on a normal drive and that the standard CTR pads and discs are by far the best.

Has anyone upgraded or does anyone else have an opinion on this?

Many thanks.

I find the standard stopping power quite poor. I upgraded the pads to Ferodo DS2500 and they felt much stronger. Also Goodridge hoses to improve the feel. Kept the standard discs on.

ive just recently went to honda to have my break pads changed den they said i also needed to get my break disks changed and charged me £215 altogether. because i didnt have the time to look for uprated break pads and disks, i resulted in getting normal ones from honda.
when i did look only when after i had it changed, i found out that uprated disks and pads would cost roughly the same as what i paid >.< maybe slightly more for labour but its definately worth it. ive been in ctr's with uprated breaks with hoses and they feel much much better than standard ones do. so if u looking to replace ur breaks den go for uprated ones, preferbly EBC or ferodo.

How easy are the Goodridge hoses to to fit? I take it that they are braided instead of the standard rubber which would stop the pipe from flexing under heavy breaking?

Do you think this setup is about right for fast road use or a bit over the top?

Braided lines, DS2500 pads and standard discs = MORE than enough stopping power.

Id say the best ones ive had pad wise are mintex xtreme, now got ferodo,s which do squeel abit.

save a fiver and buy the goodridges hoses on

No mate, unbranded. I`d stick with known brands

They look nice but might crumble under use

There was a group buy on CTRO last year with what might have been these
Unfortunately I cannot search for the link

If money isnt an issue mate the newish stoptechs are meant to be good, but it works out at bout 1400 quid fitted.

The standard size discs and pads are good for the road just upgrade the materilal, if you want to headutt the steering wheel fit stoptech, lol
