Can you machine wash your front seat covers?

Hello all, to start with Im no stranger to car valeting/cleaning as I previously worked as a car valeter across 4 dealerships for 5 years and could probably quite easily ask a friend still in the industry to borrow a wet-vax, however I was wondering if (because the seat covers appear to be removable) anyone had tried taking them off and putting them in the washing machine? Is it doable? Is there any risk of ruining them?
 
I am sure people have done it before with no problems. They are a bit of a pain to remove though and be prepared to lose some skin taking them off.
 
Just seen it....and wow what a mission to remove.... I don't think I will bother to be perfectly honest... It looks like a LOT of hassle!
