EP3 Clutch Prices

Just wondering how much a new clutch would be for an EP3? Do you go for a Genuine Honda one or is there one you lot would recommend? And whats the price (on average) do they cost to fit a new clutch in them?
And at what mileage do EP3's usually need or start to need a new clutch? or is it the old "if its been looked after, the clutch will never fail"?

Have a look at Cox, Hendy and Tegiwa for clutch costs. Forum discounts too so look in the traders section.

Generally go OEM, but always get a genuine Honda release bearing. You can get an Exedy OEM clutch but make sure it is the US version where the pressure plate and friction disc come in separate boxes inside a larger box. The other one is the Euro version and it isn't as robust.

Fitting depends on who you use and how much they charge. If you are up North I'd use Grinspeed, price for fitting is in their section on here as it happens.

Clutches can go at anything from 40k to 120k. They rarelt slip, the K20 doesn't have enough torque for that generally. You will find it grinds gear changes though and particularly changes at high rpm.

I got a genuine Honda clutch kit from Tegiwa with fluid and a braided line which I never ended up using for 236

Mine was on 101k and looked like this.

Issues with were crunching at high rpm gear changes, very little pedal travel and generally hard work when in traffic as was really hard to push down but the release bearing was probably the culprit there

Thank you mate. Thats not a bad price all in. I take it you're fitting it yourself though haha. You got a link to that clutch and all the bits you've got there?

I had a mate do it for a very attractive price with loads of other stuff at the same time.

If its running less than 300 bhp an OEM Honda clutch will be fine, TGM last year charged me £450 to fit including oil & sundries.... :D

My old OEM clutch did 102K

How can you tell the US/Europe versions apart? On EuroCarParts (I know i know, just a reference) They have one but doesnt say anything about its origin.

I think it's the 'stage 1' exedy clutches that are hit and miss depending on the origin and the US ones have a visible difference to them. I run an oem exedy clutch kit from car parts 4 less and haven't faulted it yet. For the extra 40 quid I'd go Honda personally as it comes with the more durable bearing. Not that I've had an issue up to now.
